Blackbird (2011)

2011 Ruby Griffith Awards – Officlal Selection

“Of the two leads Lenora Spahn was just outstanding. She had a difficult role. The script never explained why she had driven to Ray’s workplace nor what she hoped to achieve by the meeting made clear. Regardless, even after 15 years and at the age of 27, she came across as still being a confused child with an adolescent crush on Ray, though with a lot of resentment for the way in which she felt he had treated her, and the ridicule she had experienced after public exposure of their affair.

Her low key approach to the role and her body language of the temptress/seducer were just superb. She also delivered so well her long monologue, which must have been very difficult to learn, but she kept the audience riveted. Overall she produced the right mixture of hate and love alternately, and gave a truly wonderful performance."

British Players Ruby Griffith Awards, Program Critique

 ——-

“Lenora Spahn, cast as Una brings complexity to the role and is simultaneously both provocative and vulnerable.”

- Silver Spring Patch

 ——-

“Spahn steps up to create many of the play’s best moments. Una appears as rigidly fractured as the half-completed sentences and raw language that make her dialogue darkly poetic.”

- Prestivo

——-

“Like the script, Una is fractured and vacillates between anger and vulnerability.”

- Gazette
