Nomination for ‘Best Cameo in a Play’ for Alfie in “One Man, Two Guvnors” at Silver Spring Stage
Reviews
“Spahn is Perfectly Chaplinesque, playing someone much older than herself and of the opposite sex, as she dodders about the stage. The highlight is when Alfie, tries to open a bottle of wine with a corkscrew.”
'Guvnors' | DC Metro Theater Arts
“Other stand out performances were..Lenora Spahn who plays Alfie, a bumbling old man with gloriously uncomfortable facial expressions.”
‘Guvnors' Review | MD Theatre Guide
“Lenora Spahn is hilarious as the elderly waiter, Alfie.”
'Guvnors' Review | The Sentinel
“Spahn plays not only a pompous English director but a very funny Polish director and finally, a smarmy Texan, but does these cross-gender.
She does it all seamlessly."
‘Anton’ Review | DC Metro Theater Arts
“As Molly, Lenora Spahn is terrific in making us see Leo through the eyes of his 20 something daughter who moved in with dad a few years earlier.
Spahn has raised Molly to become a strong and spirited woman. Her most moving scene occurs when she visits her grandfather in a nursing home."
'Emperor' Review | DC Metro Theater Arts
“What I like about Lenora Spahn’s performance as Molly is her “just do it” take on the role. Her success in this role is in her simplicity. The writing leaves me wanting to know more about her and her history with her dad, mom, and her boyfriend.”
“Two areas where this production particularly succeeds is with the lively cast and the functional set design. Remember, that since this is a world-premiere production, there are no example performances for the actors to model after. In a way this allows the actors to really focus on their characters and making it their own rather than risking copying off of another actor’s interpretation.”
'Emperor' Review | MD Theatre Guide
“Stealing the show with her saucy and sultry antics is Gillian (Lenora Spahn). Exuding sexuality and sassy sensuality with every step she takes, Spahn is a sizzling sexpot in this production.
Whether she’s casually trying to learn the details of Bret’s love life or salaciously attempting to seduce Mark (Pat Reynolds) there is something sinfully scintillating about her portrayal that leaves all eyes glued on her and her thoroughly developed character."
'Dark Passages' Review | DC Metro Theater Arts
“… Lenora Spahn is truly memorable as Bret’s saucy friend Gillian.”
'Dark Passages' Review | Capital Gazette
“The acting is definitely up to the mark: Northup drops movie star names like discarded Kleenex; Murray emotes and agonizes believably (even if the playwright gives him too many Serious Writer lines); Culler pontificates magisterially, yet has a nice comic touch with his quips and asides; Winter is efficient and earnest, but sexy, too; and Spahn makes Molly a nuanced and affecting mother-to-be.”
'Emperor' Review | Takoma Voice
“Lenora Spahn as the sassy strumpet Gillian Hastings commands the stage with her overwhelmingly aggressive behavior and stunning physique.
When her relationship comes to an end and her boyfriend kicks her out, Gillian comes to stay with Bret for a few days. She likes her men and is not shy about it. Spahn definitely adds a splash of spunk to this production."
'Dark Passages' Review | MD Theatre Guide
“Lenora Spahn, cast as Una brings complexity to the role and is simultaneously both provocative and vulnerable.”
'Blackbird' Review | Silver Spring Patch
“Spahn steps up to create many of the play’s best moments. Una appears as rigidly fractured as the half-completed sentences and raw language that make her dialogue darkly poetic.”
'Blackbird Review' | Prestivo
“Of the two leads Lenora Spahn was just outstanding. She had a difficult role. The script never explained why she had driven to Ray’s workplace nor what she hoped to achieve by the meeting made clear. Regardless, even after 15 years and at the age of 27, she came across as still being a confused child with an adolescent crush on Ray, though with a lot of resentment for the way in which she felt he had treated her, and the ridicule she had experienced after public exposure of their affair.
Her low key approach to the role and her body language of the temptress/seducer were just superb. She also delivered so well her long monologue, which must have been very difficult to learn, but she kept the audience riveted. Overall she produced the right mixture of hate and love alternately, and gave a truly wonderful performance."
'Blackbird' | Ruby Griffith Awards Critique
“Another revelation in the show? Lenora Spahn, who brings an amazing, quiet dignity to the central role of Laura, who lives in, and for her dream world of glass figurines that she has collected and takes incredible care of.”
'Glass Menagerie' Review | Bowie Blade
“I’d like to single out Lenora Spahn, who really took my breath away..”
'Cannibal' Review | KillerReviews.com
“There are no false notes in the ensemble, but it’s wrong to just list them as “ensemble” when they are onstage almost constantly in a flurry of movements and lines. Despite the brevity of the vignettes, they give us fully developed and identifiable characters, portraying students and teachers alike with ease.
Lenora Spahn was very believable as the wannabe popular girl, full of faith and not much confidence."
